Blackpool

I went to Blackpool today with my good friends Smoth, Redelmo and Phil359, it was pretty cool, we spent most of the time in and out of arcades and played some pool, went on some waltzer which I used to hate but I absolutely loved it. I’m also very tired and cannot blog anymore I hope you enjoyed this blog it is a bryncom production.

Oh god, moar Zenos updates?

Yessir, haven’t had much to blog about and I still don’t.

Today was the LONGEST day I’ve ever spent in that place, it was also the first day I spent in the place till 5pm, which is supposed to be the time I get out everyday but I usually manage to get out much earlier everyday, usually ten to twenty minutes beforehand. Friday was a pretty cool day, we met a guy called Carl who’s the regional manager for all the academies in our area. He played games apparently, he also seemed really interested in speaking to us about them, we ended up having a fifteen conversation about a ton of games and PCs and all of that sort of stuff which I enjoyed throughly. I think I heard him talking about playing Aion but I might have misheard, I’ll ask him this Friday because that’s when he seems to come in, the discussion also turned into me being mocked for wasting alot of time on WoW, as every conversation does somehow or another, especially when Adam is around, fucking crotchface.

We haven’t been learning anything all that new (or at least I haven’t). Basically we’ve been starting stuff like hardware and all the motherboard type stuff, I learnt some indepth stuff about how it all works and all the crappy terms for everything, did a test and got 70% without any training which I was happy about.

Zenos Rage

I am rather angry today, I said back a few days that I asked them for a group swap right? Well today some guy from the other group was moved into our group, and she asked for a volunteer to move up to the other group. I naturally rose my hand along with one other guy from my class, so only the two. So Im thinking “Alright well I already asked for a switch giving valid reasons for my switch so she’s obviously going to pick me right?” Wrong.

So she goes and says “Alright well I’m going to add some more names into it and do a lucky dip.” What? A lucky dip when there are people wanting to move? How stupid is that? She came back and picked some Asian guy out, and he goes upstairs, never to see our class again, it just so happens the guy who had come downstairs was ALSO Asian. Now, given the information I have taken over the past two weeks here I’ve noticed that the guy that came into our class and the guy who had been transferred out are rather good friends, and they have a solid “circle” of friends in our group. Using my awesome powers it was rather obvious that she obviously wanted to split them up, they aren’t necessarily trouble makers but they can distract others and tend not to work and just talk. If she hadn’t transferred one out that would have made the situation even worse. All this doesn’t bother me one bit, but when you say “I’m going to make a lucky dip and then blatently just choose one person out of all of the class then that defies the point. She could have just selected one and told them to move group but she had to lie about it and make it seem discreet, that’s what annoys me, AND the fact that I MYSELF WANTED TO MOVE GROUPS DUE TO LEARNING REASONS was completely disregarded/ignored, that’s discrimination is it not?

I still haven’t had a proper reply to my email that I sent last Wednesday, she said she’d get back to me when they made a decision. Either I’ve been ignored or she’s forgotten, but when I immediately raised my hand when she asked today you’d think she’d remember. This leads me on to believe one of two things. She is either thick and can’t remember, is discriminating me or both of them. I don’t know whether to send another email or just to stick with my group, he isn’t actually that bad but it’s the point that I was completely ignored that bugs me, I’d chase it up to ask if she’s made a decision and then bring up what happened in the class earlier, and force either a lie out of her or confirm what I thought she had done, it’ll be obvious if she’s lying though. I already know she has a disliking for me and I can’t see why, I haven’t done anything wrong in the academy yet so she has no motive, maybe she just hates her job that much and decided to take it out on me, I certainly feel that way, anyway I’m done ranting, let’s move onto something else.

All of our work today was NVQ related (National Vocational Qualifications) and required us to group up, I got paired with two people I’m not friends with but I don’t really dislike them either, once I got down to working it really wasn’t that bad, we got along and managed to do our work fine, I’m managing to socialize with alot people as well during breaktimes and actually enjoying it, which is pretty A+

So, I think you have the jist of how I feel about Zenos and what the work is compromised of, today was a little different though. We did a maths and english diagnostic test which I scored 85% on the maths and 58% on the english, the site we were using was awfully buggy and laggy so I don’t think some of our answers got saved as a result, meaning my english score should have been higher than what it actually was. The other part of the morning was spent on some speeches my tutor had to give, I’ll admit he has the potential to give inspiring meaningful speeches, and he definately has the spirit, but his english isn’t terribly good so it can be hard to understand him sometimes, this aside though he’s an alright guy.

The afternoon consisted of a health and safety test, an equality and diversity test and yet more speeches, I was lounging so hard I felt like a teenager from an anime school, leaning back on my chair, fully equipped with my untucked shortsleeved shirt, trainers and posture to go with it, pencil tapping on the desktop, it made me smile for a few moments anyway. I don’t know what I scored on the last two tests but I can’t have done terrible, what with about ten questions on each of them. I managed to give my steam account details to some CS:S guys as well so I’ll surely play them sometime, if I know anything about them I know they’ll be sucky compared to me but we’ll wait and see.

I had an interesting twenty minute discussion about fapping today at dinner as well, wasn’t awkward in the least, was rather intriguing to see so many guys talking about jacking off. Wait, I mean it was rather gay.

Zenos, 15th September

So this morning we began work on Powerpoint, but since I had already done this yesterday my teacher decided to put me on a practice A+ exam, on which I failed terrible, only 39/100 and 80 was the pass mark, to be honest I don’t blame myself for failing, we haven’t been taught any of this stuff yet, although with that said I reckon I could do the exam again and probably do alot better, either way it was only a practice so it doesn’t matter. The other half of the morning I decided to waste by playing a game on Bits and Bytes, which was basically more of a math game.

The afternoon was just as dull, completing some presentations at the front of the class. I decided to do Conditional Formatting and I consider my presentation to be the best, even though I did it solo and others worked in groups of 2 or 3, I was the only one to show an example and actually speak loud enough for everyone in the class to hear. Other boring things include some more advanced formula work in excel and formatting in Word and Powerpoint.

The air conditioning in the room seems to make a Nintendo beep when you turn it on and play with it, it kept me rather amused if I must say so. The only other thing I can think of blogging was my friend lending me his iPod, boring day in general really, hope it picks up because I have nothing to blog on D:

Another facepalm. I grow increasingly weary of the lack of work completed in a day and how it’s spread out over the entirety of eight hours, I once again took the initiative to just speed through the “necessary” work that we had to do, I’m at least a day ahead of everyone else and it’s starting to come even more depressing to sit there and do absolutely nothing while everyone else figures out what a formula is. As I just said I am very depressed but at the same time the continuous let downs and disappointments urge me to continue, to see if it will actually ever improve and become one of two things.

A. Fun
B. It might actually teach me something new

Hopefully both, but more importantly the second, I don’t want to stay in there for five months and the only thing I come out with is qualifications, I could do the qualifications at home (Assuming I had the money to sit the exams and take all of it, which I don’t but you understand the principle). My email for a group swap seems to have being completely ignored after the “We’ll get back to you.” email was sent back to me, so to make things worse I’m stuck in this group. When I was discussing with my tutor if I could just be given the work that needs to be officially completed, as in the stuff that gets marked or graded he just continued to set me more practice exercises and I quote. “Do these just to keep you busy.”. I don’t want to stay busy doing practice exercises that I already understand completely and there’s nothing for me to benefit from doing this, I want to just do the goddamn work that needs to be done, and possibly go home early, which at the moment I only get to leave 10-20 minutes before the others, when I should be able to go an hour or so earlier.

Time for a new computer.

It’s come to my attention that now I’ll be recieving a steady income of $$$ I’ll probably want to spend my well earned taxpayers money on a new computer, one that will find itself amongst my bedroom, one that belongs to me solely, where I can game/study/fap in peace, without anybody to disturb me whilst doing so, the main reason I’ll be aquiring said PC is for gaming, having a passion for anything “THAT SPY IS NOT OUR SPY” and anything that screams “MEDIC!”, so basically Team Fortress 2 and whatever else I decide to play, I haven’t really played anything else lately apart from TF2 and the new Touhou FIGHTAN’ GAME (Hisoutensoku) and I’ve no idea why, maybe there’s nothing else worth playing out? I dunno, I’m pretty picky when it comes to gaming.

The whole PC itself is going to cost me around £400-£450 and it’ll most likely be a quadcore or maybe a duo, I’m still working the finer details out with a friend and deciding on the rest of the parts, I have two weeks left before I can even afford to pay the deposit for it, it might even be three, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see, I might even decide against it and just buy it in 10 weeks or something, who knows where I’ll be in six months afterall, I might even be dead. I’ll have to survive on my crappy 200gb HD until I can afford something else, with a measly 70gb external that, if I don’t find a cheap one for my sister, she’ll have to use my new PC until I can get a new one and give her my crappy 70gb, but even without the HD’s in the old computer, I will not be letting her touch the new one under any circumstances, so she’ll just have to fuck off for a few more weeks, or buy her own, it’ll be full of viruses as soon as she touches it.

I guess I’ll post the rough specs here for anyone interested, well I say I will but I’m just going to copy paste some links to OCUK for you.

House

So I recently began to watch House, starting at the beginning and making my way through it, I haven’t seen alot of episodes yet but the I find the series rather interesting, not just because it’s entertaining but I seem to find myself fascinated by all the medical terminology they use, I’ve also found myself rather intrigued by the psychological side of it and how people think, I know that most of the cases are either exaggerated beyond belief but I’ve taken a rather big interest in it, I find myself googling terms I don’t understand and remembering it, I even take some of the information to heart, such as exactly what an MRI does and all the other medical tests they do, I don’t find myself ever wanting to go into a medical profession or anything but I think I’ll be looking more into how people act, it’s something I constantly observe already, I don’t claim to know anyone I meet inside out just by watching their body language but I get a general idea how they might be thinking and what they’re thinking.

Beside from that I find the amount of puns and increasing amount of insults fired out to everyone becoming better and better, Chase even came out with a “Yo Momma” joke which was totally unexpected and made me chuckle, A+++ program in general, I wish I’d started watching it earlier, it’s going to take forever to watch every series with Zenos on my plate, I can’t just sit down and watch a series in one sitting anymore, well not during any weekday anyway.

So, Zenos.

Alright well, Zenos, some Government funded company that teach you how to be a pro tech support guy in five months, which basically means 9-5 every weekday. I’ve just finished the first week and I’m bored even more than you can imagine, really.

The first induction week involved two days of sitting around and listening to lectures, filling in various forms that could have been done at home and generally nothing productive, I don’t know about you but this isn’t really my idea of having a blast. The worst part of it is that they dragged so little information/form filling into an entire eight hours, all of this could have easily been done within one or two, to make it even worse than it already sounds at the end of day 2 I was drafted into “group 2″ which basically screams to me “Idiot group”, but I could be wrong, my group is significantly smaller than group 1 and the fact that in the entirety of the people who are attending my academy there’s only a single person that I know, someone from my primary school and we went to seperate highschools, I’ve kept in contact with him but I don’t know him all that well as I used to and didn’t see him much, then again I haven’t really seen anyone much over the past year or so, I’ve just been nolifing it on my computer playing WoW (Which thankfully I’ve quit now, managing to sell my account and all that dealio.) and getting sucked into some other interests such as Touhou and Team Fortress 2, other things such a web browser game that I used to detest but this one isn’t too bad, even given its context.

That last paragraph went a little off topic but I’ll bring it back now. So, days 3-5 of the last week included a “Key Skills Portfolio” which is basically a large booklet (I think it’s around 400 pages) of how to use MS Office (Word/Excel/PP), most of this I already know, but even with my expert knowledge of how to create, save and delete a word document and how to change the font, I’m still required to sit down eight hours a day and go through these exercises, my teachers slow pace is really terrible, he drags the day out giving us 5 minutes break inbetween each task, even more since I have to wait for the others to catch up and then at the end of the day he comes out with “Alright, you need to finish this before you go because we’re behind.”. Really, We’re behind? I don’t think so. I took the initiative yesterday and just began to speed through the booklet, the rest of the group are all miles behind apart from some smart guys infront of me. We’re just running through the exercises and skipping the ones that don’t require you to show proof for it, I just started the Powerpoint part of the booklet (The last part) whereas the others have only just begun to read into Excel, if I had done this the first time we’d opened the booklets I’d have finished the entire thing on Thursday, really it makes me rage so hard, but they did say “WYSIWYG” on day 1 with the boring work and all that, but I wish they’d pick up the pace a little.

The course has a various array of things in it, including all the usual software sort of stuff you’d expect from a course like this, Operating systems (Mainly XP on this course though, they said we would be paying little to nothing on stuff like Linux and the sort, which wasn’t the case with the other course I did in college (Or started as it were) that went a little bit more indepth. Other stuff is hardware, PC maintenence, networks and I also do some Network + and some other extra optional courses which I’ll probably do to fill the gap, such as getting myself counted as a “Microsoft Certified Desktop Technician” or some crap, which is always good to get a better job and the like, although knowing me next year I’ll decide to go into quantum physics or some shit.

On Monday they showed us some video including the creator of Zenos, now this sounds like a terribly boring video, but the overly used video effects actually made it rather lulzworthy and enjoyable, it wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great either, I’d like to find a link for it but I can’t find anything unfortunately, if that changes I’ll link it for you. The only other enjoyable thing was at the end of the week when we were put in groups, given some marshmellows and some spaghetti, and had to construct towers, seeing which team could make the tallest, my team of course failed horribly due to one of them being a stereotypical asian who doesn’t give a shit and wants to wreck everything, no offense if he reads this, he’s a funny guy and I don’t mind what he did, I’m just giving an accurate report of what happened. It was actually pretty fun and I managed to socialize just slightest bit for a change, it was A++ if I must say so but I much prefer to nolife it at home, anyday.

Some other things I’ll get to include are that during my stay at Zenos I qualify for EMA’s, if you haven’t the slightest idea what this is it stands for Education Maintence Allowance, basically since my family isn’t all that rich I get £35 a week ($58) for attending everyday and not getting any unauthorized absenses in that week (Illness and Bereavement don’t get it deducted I don’t think.) I actually get £30 a week for the first 10 weeks and then get the £50 at the end of that time and then it just comes in in payments of £35, apparently I also get a christmas bonus but I’m not 100% sure on this. This money will most likely go towards a new PC or the like, but I’m sure that I’ll have to wait longer due to spending some money on other things I decide I MUST have before then, which I’ll be sure to blog for you.

This is the end of my first proper blog I reckon, if you haven’t noticed it is rather more lengthy than anything else posted since when I was in highschool, as I said in the other post I have a better way with words since then, I’m no Shakespeare but I’m also no Devvo.

Reopening

So I’m bored and I need to rant about stuff, I feel a blog serves me better than vlogging or some shit like that. I’ve found out that I have a way with words over the past few years so it’s time to put it all to good use, here’s a quick summary of what you missed since Aug 07.

I dropped out of Highschool in January 08.
I lazed around till Sept 08 and then started College.
I got ill and dropped out of College about a month later without even going much.
I lazed around till September this year and have started an “Advanced Apprenticeship Course” that spans over 5 months.

I guess I’ll go into more detail in another post after this one, this blogs contents will vary quite alot, sometimes just a video or a link or whatever, the norm.
